Adopt, don’t shop!
Everyday, CARA and other animal welfare groups are besieged by requests to rescue abandoned dogs and cats. Some of these animals were expensive breed dogs–yes, believe it! Common reasons for pet abandonment were the dogs grew too big or they suffered from illness and the owners were not willing to shell out money for medical care. Probably, some of these animals were also rejects from puppy or cat mills.
Well, animal welfare groups can manage to save only a few abandoned pets. We wish we can save all but since we run on volunteer power alone and rely on donations, that is impossible for us to do.
But you can help! Instead of shopping for pets, please adopt a CARA animal or go to your nearest animal pound and give a fur baby a second chance at life and happiness. Be a hero!
