Time heals all wounds: Rescue Slash is now a resort kitty

Do you guys remember Slash?  Rescued by senior CARA volunteer Eric last month, Slash (as the name suggests) was a victim of intentional abuse, and had numerous wounds inflicted by a sharp object.

Eric recalls, “I chanced upon an injured cat with 3 long slash wounds on the body that were obviously inflicted on purpose by some demented lunatic.  He was lying on the road near the boundary of Mandaluyong and Makati, just by the Pasig River. Although he initially went crazy inside the car, once he settled on the front seat, he was so sweet and friendly. I drove with one hand caressing his head and scratching behind his ears.

“First aid was performed by Doc Riza of the Pet Project. She said the 2 wounds on the side of the body appear to be about 18-24 hours old and the 8-inch-long slash on his back appears to have been inflicted a little earlier as it was beginning to heal, although it was still open. This means that the cat was purposely wounded with a very sharp object, probably a cardboard cutter or knife, on 2 separate occasions.”

Since then, Slash has been neutered and has recovered nicely from his wounds with care and nurturing by Doc Candace and the CARA clinic staff.  He now has the beautiful and pet friendly Dona Jovita Garden Resort in Los Baños, Laguna to call home – enjoying the nature and attention from guests and staff.
