KIMBA
Kimba was found in the first week of March 2010. She had raw scald wounds on both sides of her lower back. Her wounds were very fresh and she was quivering, waiting to succumb to the excruciating pain she must have been going through.
Thankfully her rescuer got her to the vet in time and she received treatment. Her wound is now healing well. We hope with time she will forgive and trust humans again.

EBONY

Ebony was found as a kitten in the rain; she was thin and had a severe cold. One of her eyes wasbadly infected and unfortunately couldn't be saved.
She is now in beautiful condition, look at that shine on her coat!

She is very loving and has the sweetest "meow".

BLOSSOM

Blossom is a female cat who was found by the side of her road with her kitten. Both were sick and emaciated. Sadly her kitten didn't survive.
She is caring cat and kept her mothering instincts with her companions in the cattery. She is very sweet and affectionate.

MICKEY

Mickey was given to CARA as a sick kitten. He had been hit by a tricycle and had a bad cold.
He is unfortunately blind in both eyes, most probably a result of the virus. However he is confident and quite a character. He is always looking for his "human mum" and comes running if he hears her voice. He is adorable and will be with us to the end of his days because of his blindness. He is a very special boy!

MOXEY

Moxey was actually trapped to be neutered, but he remembered where he had temporary residence
and came back after he was released. He is actually a very sweet boy but he was abused by boiling water being thrown on him. He knows now where he is safe and cared for, he loves to eat. Moxey is slowly becoming less afraid of humans, rubbing against peoples legs but is still scared if you try to stroke him.

MAGGIE

Maggie is about 4 years old and was found in an old warehouse. We later discovered there must have been something toxic in the warehouse because both cats that we got from there have liver complaints. Maggie is therefore on a special diet to keep her medical condition under control.
She loves to curl up in a ball in her bed, she looks so sweet BUT be warned, she might let you stroke her but sometimes she might scratch you to remind you who is boss. She will be a long term rescue of CARA's due to her special diet and her unpredictable temperament.

POPE

Pope was found with another rescue called Maggie in a warehouse. It was later discovered that there must have been something toxic there, both Maggie and Pope have liver disease and are on special diets.
Pope likes to stick her tongue out and looks very sweet. But looks can be deceptive, she might well give a nip if she isn't in the mood to be touched.
For these reasons Maggie might well become a clinic cat as a person interested in adopting her must keep her on a special diet and put up with a few nips here and there.

PUFF

Puff was found by a CARA member, caged outside the home of one of her neighbours. The poor kitten had an infected leg with a broken bone sticking out. He was quiet and seemed to be in a state beyond pain, hissing only when approached. He was rushed to the vet who who was able to simply cut off the blackened piece of flesh that was connecting his leg to the second joint. The next day his leg was amputated to the hip. After a lot of care he has recovered from his wound but does not have proper balance yet. He is starting to trust his rescuer and allows a few strokes of affection but is still wary.

WALKER

Walker was one of the many street cats that a CARA
member encountered everyday during her round of feeding the strays. He was noticeable from the other cats because he had a small limp from a previous injury but came regularly for his meals. He loved to eat!
Unfortunately one day he came under the car as she was driving off and was rushed to the vet immediately. Luckily he had no broken bones on his X-ray. However, due to the injury he was unable to urinate or have bowel movements. Once back from the vets he was patiently nursed back to health. His now pronounced limp prevents him from being able to stand long and would make it difficult to survive on the streets. He is happy to have taken up residence at his fosters mums house.

MICKEY 2

Mickey always looks a mess because he gets dirty from rubbing his face and body on exhaust pipes!
He has attitude and is very upset that two other acts have also taken up residence on his property. He will let you stroke him...if he feels like it but he prefers being stroked on his underside rather that his back. For this reason he is difficult to find a home for, he wants to be his own boss and not be owned. If someone would feed him and let him rule the house he would be happy.

TOMMY

Tommy used to play outside every night with the CARA presidents cat Grey Boy. Her daughter feared he would
get run over as he didn't seem to have much street sense, therefore he was caught, neutered and became a CARA rescue cat. He is loving and playful, we are not sure exactly how old he is.
He now enjoys his life without having to search for food or find a safe place to sleep.

CALYPSO

This poor cat was found as a kitten tied by a nylon string to a bougainvillea bush. In her struggle to
break lose, her eye was poked by a large thorn and her eye had to be surgically removed. Since this cruel incident, she has become scared of humans and cowers when she sees them. Her best friend is the handsome Hudson. She is at the CARA clinic in the hope she will learn to trust humans again and be adoptable.

SWEETIE

Sweetie was run over and left to die. By the time she was rescued, her hind leg had developed
gangrene and had to be amputated. She had to undergo a long recovery period, but is a total sweetheart and so forgiving. We hope someone will give her a loving home one day but until then she is in our sponsorship program to help with the costs of her operation.

HUDSON

This very handsome grey male tabby was found abandoned as a kitten in the same area as the one-eyed tricolor female Calypso. Since this time they have grown up together as the best of friends. Calypso trusts Hudson and considers him her loving sibling. We hope one day they might be homed together.

CHIHUAHUA

My name is Chihuahua, don't ask me why I got that name. My mother abandoned me when I was 3 weeks old, I was starving to near death on the side of a busy road when my foster mom discovered me, she stopped the car and picked me up and my life changed, I have been a sickly kitten for many months, as you can see I still don't look my best, I have a skin infection which is being treated.

SLUMBER

Slumber was pregnant when she was picked up.  Upon taking her to the clinic, it was discovered that her three kittens were dead for approximately two days.  She too would have died if the kittens were not aborted.  During her recovery, her rescuer noticed that she slept a lot and that nothing seemed to bother her. She soon discovered that Slumber was deaf.  She was born without eardrums.  She had already been a victim of hot-water throwing from her scald marks.   She cannot return to the streets.  Estimated age:  2 years
