Pitbulls rescued from dogfighting facility in Indang, Cavite (Philippines)

Last December 02, 2011 AKF (Animal Kingdom Foundation) did a bust on a dogfighting facility in Indang, Cavite (Philippines). They raided the place at night, took footage of an actual dogfight, and were able to arrest 6 Koreans and some 14 Filipino staff.

AKF turned all the dogs over to the Provincial vet. A decision was then made  to give away around 160 of the healthy dogs in the town of Indang. At the facility some dogs were euthanized and the remaining emaciated and ill dogs were rescued by PAWS (The Philippines Animal Welfare Society) and brought to the PARC (PAWS Animal Rehabilitation Center) shelter in Marikina.

The count of Pitbulls at PARC now is 65 dogs.

PAWS cannot keep the dogs indefinitely. They do not have the manpower, proper enclosures or funds. They will keep the dogs till the week of Dec 23 and have no other choice but to euthanize the dogs if an alternative is not found.

Jackie Baut of PAWAI (Palawan Animal Welfare Association, Inc.) has offered to take 10 females to Palawan to spay and care for them. The problem for now is that most are still too emaciated or suffering from wounds to travel this far

This is a plea for help for these Pitbulls at PARC.

None of us want them euthanized, but unless they have a place to go to be taken care of for life – there is no choice. There are some kind ones that, hopefully, after rehabilitation, can eventually be adopted out.

Also take note that this so called “Kennel” had a license signed by Dr. Mateo the head of the Animal Welfare Division of the Bureau of Animal Industry… Perhaps a resignation should be called for and a total overhaul of this departments ongoings should be demanded!
