How six dogs rescued their human

How six dogs rescued their human - dog adoption story - Carla Abaya

Let’s start the season right with a series of successful adoption stories. Radio DJ Carla Abaya shares the story of how her family of six dogs came to be. According to her, they rescued her, not the other way around. 🙂

Happy Birthday to my 6 adopted/rescued babies!

A brief history — In 2008, I rescued Tsunami, Beetle, Kung Fu (not in photo, she passed away tragically a few months ago) and Zian. I found them abandoned in the streets. Zian is the mother, she was incredibly malnourished and weak. The other three are her kids. They were less than a month old when I saw them. Bloated, and skin was full of mites and wounds. After several days of feeding them, I was able to take them off the streets and cared for them in my home.

In 2014, CARA Welfare Philippines rescued Macy, Mommy and Rico from the streets. Prior to their rescue, Macy and Rico were abandoned by their “owners” because they had mange and left to roam the streets on their own. Mommy was surrendered to the Pasig dog pound by her “owners.” An angel spotted Mommy at the pound and offered to sponsor her under the care of Vet partners (Pet Project) of CARA. I met all three of them in October last year at Pet Project, where they were being fostered. In November, all three  moved in with me.

I may never know their real birthdays or their real age, but it does not matter. November brought me these Angels. I am grateful they chose me to be their human. They rescued me. That’s why today (November 26) is their birthday.
