Two years ago I was blessed to have had the chance to rescue two adorable puppies. I was on my way home. While inside a tricycle I chanced to see two puppies huddled by the side of a road in Sta. Ana, Manila.
I went back for them. The white puppy was growling, warning me off, protecting its sibling in spirit, a black puppy who I feared was paralyzed or dead. It was limp. Both were like living skeletons. I fed the black puppy and it revived somewhat. To my surprise, the white puppy snuggled up to me. I guess when he saw I was friendly he became free to be his sweet self.
Here they are now, two weeks after the rescue, as sweet as loving puppies could be. They practically doubled in weight. I looked for a forever home for them. Preferably, they should have been adopted together as they had formed a bond, without which they would not have survived the streets for goodness knew how many weeks after being abandoned. I named them Yin and Yang, female and male, darkness and light, two halves of a whole.
Only Yin was adopted. Yang is still with me. His coat is now a very light brown. The fur on his chest grows in a heart-shaped pattern. He has been neutered and is now very much part of my family, two-legged and four-legged. I think he did not miss Yin as much as I feared he would because Yang knew that Yin was going to a loving home.
With Yang my family realized that rescued animals do love in a very special way. Rescued animals are so loving. They give their all to show you how much they love you. They make us feel so special.
To the person reading this, I strongly recommend that you rescue or adopt. I think you will be saving not just that animal’s life but also your own, making it more open to positive and saving grace.
I will always adopt because it is the right thing to do
We agree with you. 🙂
i’m glad you found them <3
Thanks Mirell!
