Dog Tales: the night of pastries, books, shoes, and dogs

Dog Tales with CARA - Twinkle in the arm of a loving lady

On the night of November 30, Mercato Centrale – the to-go place for foodies in BonifacioGlobalCity – offered a different “taste” for all sorts of shoppers.

CARA Welfare Philippines launched its first Dog Tales event in the covered tent of Mercato Centrale and sold almost several if not a hundred of books and magazines along with sumptuous baked goods and fashionable shoes in hopes of gathering more funds for its rescue, spay, and neuter missions.

Generous entrepreneurs, companies and individuals helped CARA Welfare pull the event off: Mercato Centrale, venue sponsor; ITPI Corp. developer of Primavera Residences; Cooper and Morgan, shoe sale; Franz Lasam; and Joanie’s Cupcakes, The Cookie Rack PH, and Family Favorites Bakery for the pastries.

Media partners WheninManila and PinoyDogLover.com also helped market the event to the online community, which in return gave CARA’s booth a flock of visitors who made it to Taguig entirely for the Dog Tales event.

Meanwhile, the duo from the Brotherhood of United Filipino Magicians provided even more entertainment (apart from CARA’s in-house own tricksters, the rescue aspin “Siopao” and his “mother” and CARA Clinic Manager Ainee San Luis-Reyes!) to both booth visitors and Mercato Centrale’s guests.

Three dogs which were rescued recently by CARA were made available for guests to walk with the assistance of the organization’s volunteers. Chippy, Narra, and Bobby happily engaged with their human admirers. Twinkle, also a lovable white aspin rescued by CARA, refused to walk far enough and preferred to be babied and cuddled! Interested individuals or families could check their profiles in the adoption homepage of CARA’s website: www.caraphil.org/mainsite/our-rescues/adoption-gallery/

The success of this first Dog Tales event brought almost P34,000 to CARA’s funds, which would be of much help considering the volume of rescues and spay/neuter programs its volunteers partake in everyday. However, more help – financially or in kind – are still needed.

Volunteers also sold CARA merchandises such as caps, pins, shirts, and bags. A cat adoption gallery was shown to booth visitors in hopes of matching these felines to their potential forever homes. The event ended midnight of December 1.
