This coming September 29th, 2013, the Animal Kingdom Foundation Inc. and the Bureau of Animal Industry will be holding an Animal Welfare Awareness celebration at the Quezon City Memorial Circle which aims to strengthen the drive of various animal organizations about making people realize the importance of proper ways of taking care of different animals – from dogs and cats, to pigs and horses. CARA will be joining!
Although it has been enforced since 1998, very few people are actually aware of the contents of the Animal Welfare Act, so much so that we constantly hear of animals being mistreated and abused. One of the most forgotten clause in the said act, Section 6, prevents any individual from torturing as well as neglecting to provide sustenance, adequate care, and shelter any animal. The same section also prevents individuals from engaging in dogfight as well as horse fight.
