World Spay Day is an annual campaign officially held on the last Tuesday of February by The Humane Society International and The Humane Society of the United States. The event is held yearly to inspire people worldwide to save animal lives by spaying or neutering pets, street dogs and feral cats. Animal welfare organisations worldwide prepare one day in February to give tribute to the occasion.
CARA Welfare Philippines honored the celebration by conducting its first Free Spay/Neuter day for 2012 on 18 February. Much loved pets of less privileged families and felines rescued in the city streets of Manila by animal advocates were given priority.
In total, 56 cats were spayed and neutered with the help of CARA’s three volunteer vets Dr. Dan, Dr. Riza and Dr. Melay. Volunteers on hand to help were Nancy Cu Unjieng, Vimla Mansukhani, Vera Lim, Janice Anzures, Janina Magundayao, Celia Yu and Karla Kangleon. Snacks and refreshments were courtesy of Tracy Tuason and Nancy Cu Unjieng.

I am so happy to find this website. It has been my long time dream to establish a sort of animal rescue organization in Gingoog City, Misamis Oriental. My family has been rescuing kittens since I can remember. Just recently, my sister rescued 2 kittens (1 was already dead) thrown inside a sack in the garbage. I wish you more success in your endeavor so that people like me would eventually benefit from it as I pursue my dream of providing a safe haven for these unwanted animals in my own corner of the world.
