Last April 14th, CARA was invited by animal welfare advocate Kris Carballo Aguirre to join Sole Slam Manila—an annual sneakers convention and auto show. The event was held at One Esplanade in the Mall of Asia complex and was well attended by both fashion and car enthusiasts.
Joining CARA at the event is the Opie, one of our lovely dogs that is up for adoption. Despite the loud music and overwhelming number of people, Opie stayed cool. He just might be a hip-hop dog, after all! Opie was rescued in Manila area a few months ago. He had a rubber band tied around his testicles, that was already embedded in the skin and infected. Despite this horrible abuse, he is the sweetest and friendliest dog you will meet. He is great with kids and even loves to socialize with strangers in public situations. Everyone that meets him comments how well behaved he is! A lot of the attendees took time to have their photos taken with Opie or even just pet him.
We, at CARA, would like to extend our gratitude to Kris and her husband, Antonio Aguirre, for inviting us to their wonderful event; and to all the participants who dropped by the CARA table. Sole Slam Manila was quite a success, and CARA is truly honored and grateful to have been a part of it.
