Giving animals as gifts, especially to children, more often than not, causes suffering for the animal, like when the recipient is not prepared for the responsibilities it entails to take care of them. There are plenty of ways to expose your child to Easter-minded creatures that won’t result in death and pain for animals, like visiting a farm, so kids can interact with them properly. Or if you think your child is ready to adopt a pet, consider adopting from the streets or from organizations like CARA.

If you can’t adopt, foster.
If you can’t foster, donate.
If you can’t donate, volunteer.
If you can’t volunteer, spread the word.
You can help.
