Hall 4 of the SMX Convention Center in the Mall of Asia Complex was bustling with pet parents, and their adorable dogs and cats during the two-day Pet Express Dog & Cat Expo held on August 1-2, 2015.
Amidst the wagging tails and wide grins, here are 5 reasons why we were just as excited as our fur kids:
- Pet shopping opportunity
More than 50 brands participated. And the best part? Exclusive discounts and promos! We did some serious shopping for our fur-kids. On display was a wide selection of pet food, pet clothing, pet accessories and cute pet strollers. The purchase lines were so long you’d think the organizers were selling blockbuster movie tickets. There was also a raffle giving ticket holders a chance to win an overnight stay at a pet-friendly, luxury beach resort!
- Be a proud pet parent
We were able to flaunt our cute and charming fur babies, and be proud just like any other parent. The games such as the dog food eating contest, treasure hunt game, doggie bowling were an opportunity to showcase our pets’ talents. The event was a perfect avenue for us to strengthen our ties with our pets.
- Perfect bonding activity
The weekend event was a perfect occasion to bond with our pets. There were various fun-filled activities such as dog yoga sessions and focus training. The pet blessing reminded us of goodwill and caring. I really enjoyed the various dog talent demonstrations such as bomb sniffing. I found the product demos educational. Vets and representatives from various animal organizations presented on several pet-related issues.
- Chance to meet fellow pet lovers with their adorable canines and felines
The two-day affair was a perfect venue to meet people with the same interest and big hearts for animals. It was great to be under one roof with fellow dog and cat lovers of all ages. I got to meet people from various organizations. There were 18 dog and cat groups that participated.
- Enjoy for a cause
Most importantly, we got the chance to help and make a difference. CARA was the beneficiary of the event proceeds. People came to the CARA booth to inquire about how to adopt, donate and volunteer. Cat House Manila gave people the chance to interact with their cuddly cats for a fee (proceeds of which was also donated). CARA gave a talk on responsible pet ownership, which was a great platform to increase awareness on taking care of our pets the right way.
What we also loved about this event was that admission was FREE. One thing’s for sure, we are definitely coming back next year for a stress-free and pet-friendly weekend. I wonder if the fur babies have realized that their humans had a blast as much as they did!
